Is any of this stuff going to actually reduce your sentence?
I remember getting a phone call from a client who had just wrapped up a coaching call with Jenny. For those who don’t know, Jenny is our Mindset Coach at RDAP Dan. We recommend that most clients work with Jenny as they move through this process…
So this client calls me and wanted to know if the assignments Jenny gave him are really going to help him get less time at sentencing. The short answer: maybe.
Forget immediate gratification
The longer answer is that you should forget about immediate gratification when it comes to federal sentencing preparation. Quick fixes and sure bets are few and far between in this space. It’s not what you want to hear when you’re really craving control, but it’s the truth.
You may be used to being in control, and right now, you’re grasping for guarantees so that you can feel more in control of your situation. That’s not a shot against you. I was in that exact same place at one time. I was on my way to sentencing, and what I wanted most was a way to gain some control over the legal nightmare unfolding around me. Trust me, I get it.
You hire a prison consultant to help you achieve a positive outcome. While we can help, we cannot guarantee the legal outcome for you. Any prison consultant with integrity will tell you the same thing. We can influence the odds but we can’t manipulate the judge’s mind. We recommend that most of our clients coach with Jenny because whatever happens, your mindset is going to be a huge factor in whether you thrive or fall apart.
Here’s why your mindset is so important
Your mindset is something you can control. So while we’re working on the pieces that help you influence the outcome of your sentencing, your mindset needs work too. With the right mindset, whatever happens, you stay sane, peaceful and positive. If you end up doing any amount of federal prison time, your mindset will be something no one can take from you; it will influence the amount of time you serve, how well you do in halfway house and what you make of your future after your release. Do you think your mindset doesn’t need improvement? If your mindset had been better, you wouldn’t be in this situation right now. Let that sink in for a minute.
Show the judge you’re changing
On the tangible side of things, a judge can review your Coaching Summary Document and see that you were proactive in working with a Registered Coach, and that you have been changing your thinking… the thinking that led you to the court room. If a judge believes you’ve truly shifted the main contributing behaviors and thinking patterns that led to your crime, you’ve likely secured a better outcome.
We see this approach work over and over
Our Success Method requires hard work. If you’re not willing to open your mind to putting in the effort without the results being 100% guaranteed, and showing up even when you feel like giving up, things are not likely to get better for you. If you’ll do the work, push yourself outside your comfort zone and commit to strengthening your mindset, you will see results. Our clients experience this reality time and time again. We know it works because we live this philosophy ourselves. Inner work produces outer results.
If you’re tired of feeling scared and ready to do something about it, call me and let’s discuss how our Success Method can help you.
